Plane Pilot – Paul

Meet Air Ambulance Pilot Paul

Get to know Paul

Hi everyone, I’m a pilot for Life Flight and operate out of our northernmost base in Hamilton. Previously working for the Westpac Air Ambulance but following a rationalisation of resources, we joined together with Life Flight in 2024.

I have enjoyed various roles within the New Zealand aviation industry including airline flight examining/training and the delivering of technical, Crew Resource Management and human factors courses. But I get the greatest satisfaction from the aeromedical flights I am currently doing.

Being employed in a workplace where you not only get to operate a modern sophisticated aircraft in an ever changing and challenging environment but where you also get to play a small part in making a difference to a patient’s outcome and to the experience of the patient’s families is a privilege few pilots get to have but is part of what makes this a thoroughly rewarding job.
