The inside of our Westpac Rescue Helicopter is like a flying ICU. Paramedics are specially trained in aeromedical care, and work fast in any given situation. Our paramedics are brought in by Wellington Free Ambulance in a joint venture to give hospital-grade medical attention and stay on base with the crew while on shift.
Jobs for flight paramedics include:
- Providing pre-hospital life saving care
- Recovering patients via winch / in or out of the water
- Often being the first medic on scene
- Preparing all medical equipment needed for a mission
