Life Flight provides a 24/7 nationwide air ambulance service transporting critically ill patients who urgently require specialist medical care often only available in one or two hospitals in New Zealand.
For example, a patient in Wellington with a spinal injury may need access to Christchurch’s specialist spinal unit, or a baby in Nelson may need access to Wellington’s specialist neonatal unit.
The air ambulance service is like a flying intensive care ward staffed by specialist flight nurses, doctors and crew.
Life Flight coordinates a full bed-to-bed service, taking care of all logistics and providing the aircraft, equipment and expert medical teams.
Weta has us all wrapped up
The Wellington plane features a stunning new look designed by Weta Workshop. The bandaged plane expresses, at a glance, what Life Flight does: provides life-saving emergency air services.
Weta Workshop Creative Director Richard Taylor says, "I love the design, it is something a little different for the skies above New Zealand... but also it is a strong iconic graphic for a great kiwi team!"
